ADIT Stamp is a temporary green card. You can use this as a “green card” until you receive a new physical green card. For example, you can use it for travel, employment, driver’s license, or Social Security purpose.

If you are already a US permanent resident, but you just don’t have a physical green card in your hand or it’s expired, ADIT Stamp can be a great replacement (It’s free!). For example, you can apply for ADIT Stamp if you have a pending Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (I-90), Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (I-751), Petition by Investor to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status (I-829), or Immigration Court Date.

The key point is that because you are already a US permanent resident, you can seek for ADIT Stamp to prove your status. Generally, an immigration services officer will put ADIT Stamp on your passport. But if your passport has expired, bring two passport pictures, then an immigration services officer will create a temporary green card!
